Dealing With Bee Stings

A bee sting is no fun, as it can not only cause you pain, but it can also put poison in your blood stream that makes you feel sick (and of course, it is even worse for those who are allergic to bee stings!), but even though you will be hopeful that you (or your children) will not have to deal with bee stings, it is wise – especially during the summer – to know what you should do in case a bee sting occurs. Taking care of bee stings is easy to do, after all, but if you do not know what you are doing, you will not be able to take the proper steps!

The first thing you need to do is check to see if the stinger is embedded in the skin; if the stinger is not in the skin, you will be in much better shape, as this will mean there was little to no poison emitted, but if the stinger is embedded in the skin, you will need to use tweezers and pull it out.

You will need to mix a little concoction to go over the area of the sting after you have removed (and safely disposed of) the stinger; in a bowl, stir a little bit of water into baking soda until it creates a paste-like substance, then cover the area with this paste and allow it to dry.

You will minimize the effects of the sting and the poison with this concoction of baking soda and water, but you will also need to make sure that no air is getting to the spot of the sting, and that the paste is not crumbling off; you can do this by putting a bandage over the paste and leaving it on for several hours.

If you take these measures and an allergic reaction still occurs, you should immediately visit a doctor – but as long as you take these steps, you will greatly minimize the possibility of any further damage!

How To Conserve Energy While Playing Sports

It can seem natural for you to go “all out, all the time” when you are playing sports – especially if you are a competitive individual – as this will give you the best chance of winning and performing well, but as you get older, it will also be important for you to learn how to conserve your energy when you play sports. After all, if you lose all your energy halfway through the game, you will not be much good to your team – and you will be no good to your body if you overexert yourself, to a point where you cannot play again anytime soon!

The first step to conserving your energy while playing sports will take place even before you step onto the field, as you will need to make sure that you are stretching fully; by giving your body all the stretching it needs (not just in the areas of your body you think you will be using, but in all areas of your body!), you will prevent both injury and fatigue once the competition begins.

By not running at certain times during the sporting event itself, you will also be able to conserve energy; if you are playing soccer, for instance, you can play your zone and not only conserve energy by not running all over the place, but also be in proper position when the ball comes your way! Know the times when you can conserve energy on the field in whatever sport you play, and you will feel much better all the way throughout.

Lastly, you need to drink water throughout the competition to replenish your body and your muscles; take the time to come to the sideline every once in a while to fill back up on water.

Playing sports is a great way to stay in shape, but if you are not careful, it can also be a great way to hurt yourself or to become over-fatigued; follow these tips, and you will be able to keep your body safe during sporting competitions, and will be able to keep up your energy all the way throughout.

Exploring The Health Benefits Of Honey

The knowledge most people have of honey extends about as far as “I don’t know, it tastes really good,” but what they fail to realize is that the benefits of honey actually go far beyond just the taste! People often make the mistake of assuming that honey is not healthy for the body (a misconception that has likely come about due to the fact that honey is sweet and it tastes good), but honey – unless taken in huge quantities – is not unhealthy at all, and in fact has three specific areas in which it is great for the body.

Firstly, honey is an excellent way to get energy into your body; unlike energy boosters that function primarily because of caffeine or sugar, honey provides long-term energy, as it gives the body glucose that kicks in for immediate energy and also gives the body fructose that gives the body sustained energy. In fact, many athletes have even taken to adding honey as part of their workout, or as part of their regimen during competition, because honey is able to give the body that push it needs in order to go the extra mile.

Secondly, honey is a tremendous antioxidant, which means that it helps to build up the immune system, and as it has anti-bacterial properties that can help improve the body’s digestive system while helping you stay healthy and fight off diseases.

Pick up a 4 pack of Ambrosia Pure Honey from the Western Slope of Colorado.

And thirdly, of course, you will be able to use honey to get rid of plenty of ailments or illnesses if they do come, as the ingestion of honey can help with everything from sore throats to arthritis pain to hangovers – and honey can even be used as an antibacterial agent in dressing cuts and wounds!

Unlike many substances that are “great to add to one’s diet,” but are also difficult to add because of the expense involved, the obscurity of the product, or the poor taste it gives to your food, honey is inexpensive, easy to find, and delicious - and if you simply add honey to your regular diet, you will reap a great number of rewards.
