Getting To Know Twitter

It seems like Twitter pops up everywhere you look nowadays, and not just online, as even news broadcasts and television shows seem to talk about Twitter; if you do not have a Twitter account of your own, however, you might not quite understand what Twitter is, how it is used, or how you can use it yourself.

The best way to understand Twitter if you use facebook is to think of Twitter the same way you think of facebook status updates – except, of course, that it is not on facebook, and that Twitter limits you to 140 characters (which means letters, numbers, punctuation, and spaces).

On Twitter, you will have your “home page” (which is where you will see a live stream of tweets from every person you follow), as well as your “profile page” (where everyone can go to see all your tweets); if you want to see someone’s tweets as part of your feed, you can follow them – or, you can simply bookmark and visit a person’s profile page if you only want to read their tweets every once in a while.

You can also use the “@” symbol, followed by a person’s Twitter name, to tage them in a post; if you tag someone at the start of a tweet, it will not show up in the news feeds of others, whereas your tweets will still show up in others’ news feeds if you tag people in the middle of a tweet.

Of course, regardless of where within a tweet you tag someone, people will still be able to see any of your tweets when they visit your profile page, so if the message you are trying to send to someone is a private message, make sure you use the direct message function instead of just tagging them.

People use Twitter in a number of different ways – to keep up with news or with their favorite celebrities, to interact with friends, or simply to post thoughts of their own – but regardless of how you end up using Twitter yourself, the first thing you need is to understand what it even is!

Watering Your Lawn Properly

Your lawn can start to give you some problems as the summer heat begins to climb - and one of the toughest things of all is knowing how to properly water your lawn, as watering your lawn incorrectly can either kill your grass or cost you more money than you need to spend (or worse, can do both!). Watering your lawn properly is easy, as long as you know what you are doing, and as long as you make sure you are following a few simple tips.

Timing: One thing that will make a difference is the time of day during which you water; if you water your lawn when the sun is at its strongest, the water will not only evaporate before it does much good, but it can even cause the grass to get scorched, so you should always water your lawn early in the morning or late in the evening.

Professional Lawn Care On Your Own!

Frequency: There are plenty of people who think that they will get the best results if they water for long stretches a couple times a week, but actually, your lawn will be in much better shape if you water it daily; try to make sure that each area of your lawn gets at least five to ten minutes of water each day, and you will be in better shape than if you tried to soak your lawn a few times a week.

Coverage: Regardless of whether you are watering manually or with an automatic sprinkler system, it will be extremely important that every section of your lawn gets hit with water; when you are setting up your sprinkler, make sure that the water overlaps from section to section just a bit, as it will be better for a swath of lawn to get watered twice than for it to not get watered at all.

It will be easy for you to water your lawn correctly if you follow these tips, and in the long run, your lawn will reward you by being lush and beautiful without costing you a whole lot of extra money!
